4 Fun Ways to Feng Shui Your Office

About Me
Learning About The Three Divisions Of Construction

My name is Michael Jones and this blog focuses on the three divisions of construction. Building construction is what most people are familiar with and this consists of the building of homes and businesses. Industrial construction is the operation of erecting manufacturing plants and refineries. Infrastructure is another type of construction that focuses on the building of large projects, such as bridges and dams. I became interested in this subject many years ago after I watched a television documentary about construction. Since then, I've done a lot of research to learn everything I can about the various types of construction. If this topic also interests you, you'll find out a lot of information by reading this blog.

4 Fun Ways to Feng Shui Your Office

If it's been a while since you remodeled you're office, then you may be due for a change of scenery. The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui can help you figure out the best furnishings to order and the best way to arrange your new furnishings to bring luck and success to your place of business. In the process, you'll wind up with an artfully arranged room. Take a look at a few fun ways that you can apply the principles of Feng Shui to your office.

Bring in Some Color

Most offices aren't known for their creative color schemes. Chances are that the walls that surround you every day are white, cream, or beige, made even paler by bright fluorescent lighting. The pale walls and bright lights mean that your office is heavily influenced by metal and fire elements. Feng Shui is all about finding the right balance between the elements, so you'll want to bring in some earth, wood, and water to balance it out.

Choose a desk in a deep brown color to add the earth element. A black leather couch can contribute to the water element, and a deep green rug adds the wood. Your office will look as conventional as it always did, but it will feel more balanced.

Find the Right Positions

If possible, position your desk and chair so that you're seated in the corner furthest from the entrance, facing the door. This is known as the command position, and it signals to anyone entering the room that you're in the position of power—a useful position for tricky negotiations.

Whatever you do, don't sit with your back to the door. Business comes through the door, and if your back is facing the door, you're symbolically turning your back on new business.

Work on Proper Placement of Office Supplies

If there's a metal safe in your office, move it to the west or northwest side of the room. This location is meant for metal elements. The safe represents the business's prosperity and financial security, and putting it in the metal region of the room protects and promotes that prosperity and security. Metal file cabinets—which also represent income for the business—should be placed in the same region of the room.

If you do a lot of work on the computer, place it on the north side of your desk. This is the position that promotes creativity and inspiration. As for the wires attached to your computer, printer, fax machine, and other electronic equipment, keep them bundled up neatly and out of sight. Wires crossing the room will disrupt the free flow of positive energy.

Decorate for Success

When you adorn your office, you should have wealth and success in mind. Diplomas and awards are good choices if you're looking for something to hang on the wall that symbolizes success, but there are other options as well. Hang a picture of yourself in an stimulating location, like the top of a mountain, or engaged in a motivating activity, like hiking or steering a sailboat.

Decorations don't need to be personal to you to promote positive energy and success. You can bring in artwork, plants, flowers, or an aquarium. Just be sure to choose objects that inspire you to feel successful or make you think about wealth.

Decorating with Feng Shui can make your office remodel a lot more fun, and you'll be sure to enjoy the results when it's finished. For more tips and assistance, talk to office interior designers such as WDI Group.
